Us Against The World Right? (Draco Malfoy)

The silence was a little strange, she usually answered his questions. He had no idea if her answer was yes or no. Maybe she was just trying to say no without actually saying no. He looked down at her, and it looked as though something was bothering her. He was worried, but also knew there were some things she liked to keep to herself. He thought for a moment before speaking again.

"Is something bothering you?" He knew if she was willing to tell him, she would. His face showed concern for his best friend. He hoped it wasn't anything too serious.

Serenity quickly regained her composure and shook her head. She could not let him think that anything was wrong with her, Serenity knew that to be a spy for her father she would have to remain rather cold and emotionless. Her father insisted that she didn't do this, but if that were the case then he would have to give her away...and Serenity knew that she would rather live in hiding with her father...then out in the open away from him. And Serenity also knew for a fact that Miles would prefer the same thing.

"N-Nothing." she said softly, her voice quivering ever so slightly. "I was just thinking about something random."

Turning on her side so that her face was toward one of the random sinks she sighed. She knew that Draco would eventually figure it out at some point, but it would not be by her hand. Serenity did not want to worry her best friend, nor did she want him trying to interfere. She also wanted to tell Harry before she told anyone else, there was just the small problem about him being hunted by the Dark Lord...and probably being found out.

He wasn't sure that was the complete truth, but he did trust her. He put a hand on her shoulder. He hoped that she truly was alright, and decided it was probably just nerves. Her father didn't exactly like Potter, so she was probably nervous about telling him. He decided to change the subject. The only problem was, he didn't know what to change it to. He thought a bit, but still nothing. Even around Ren, he was pretty terrible at conversation.

He considered suggesting going down to the kitchens for a snack if she was hungry, but that sounded stupid in his head. He had really only grown up with Ren as a friend, which meant wasn't the social type. Ren was usually the one to change subjects and that type of thing, and there wasn't much he could suggest.

Sighing, he leaned against the wall, maybe if he was more social he could get a girlfriend. He was slightly torn between wanting one, and staying single. He looked at Ren, then up at the ceiling, hoping Ren would either say something or do something. He didn't really like the silence at the moment.

Serenity sighed, she could feel that they were sinking into one of those awkward silences, but she had no way to really get them out of it. Serenity was just as quiet as Draco, if not more so. Whereas Draco had the boldness to come out and say what he meant to people he did not like...she was more or less the silent fury type. Unless it came to Granger...Serenity really was no scared to insult that girl, mostly because she knew that if she tried to fight back there was no hope of her winning. But now that she was dating Harry she really had to promise to be as nice as possible, which of course took a toll on Serenity...she loved Harry, so that meant she was going to have to relax when it came to Granger.

Continuing with this little air of silence she glanced up at Draco and sighed. He was her best friend, and even though she was the same age of him she had always considered him to be his older brother. Mostly because he was taller than her, but he had always had that commanding presence she had come to admire.

"Draco," she said gently. "Can you do me a favor? I know that this is a lot to ask...but can you try to leave Harry alone...don't insult him...please? He's been having a lot of trouble lately...and with me..."

She broke off, almost slipping about her spying this year. Closing her eyes she shook her head and curled up farther into Draco for warmth. It was cold down there on the bathroom floor.

He hated to admit it, but Serenity might have a point. He didn't know what his life was like outside of school, but if she said he had trouble, he believed her. He looked down at her put on a small smile. He would have to try, if he wanted to keep this friendship strong. He nodded slightly, but then spoke.

"Yeah... I can." He almost added for you, but he didn't. Because he wasn't just doing it for her. Although she was the main reason, since it was their friendship. He just had to hope that keeping his insults to himself wouldn't end badly. He wondered if he should just avoid him altogether unless he was with Ren. Having Ren nearby would probably keep him calm enough to keep from insulting Harry.
