Dominic had been looking for a quiet place to work on his Astronomy homework. The common rooms, both Ravenclaw and Group, had been insanely packed with people. He'd not been able to think properly in there, and that was saying something, since Dom was usually good at tuning people's voices out. He had been wandering the school, debating on various locations. The library was quiet, but it had been packed with students studying, and he'd not been able to find a seat in the whole place. The Great Hall was just a no-go, since it was open to everyone, and the House Elves that worked in the kitchens were in and out of there all the time.

Dominic was becoming a little aggrivated. He needed to keep his grade up in Astronomy if he wanted to be properly prepared for his OWL, and he was determined to do it! Then he remembered that there was an empty classroom on the second floor, and since he was on the ground, he wasn't far away, so he hurried up the two flights of stairs, hoping against hope that it would be empty. He even went so far as to cross his fingers as he approached the door.

The heavy wooden door creaked softly when he opened it, and he found that the room was indeed empty. With a sigh of relief, Dom entered and closed the door behind himself, sat at a desk and started on his homework. He'd made a little bit of head way when he heard the door creak open again. He prayed that the person, or persons saw that the room was occupied, and would go somewhere else. He thought that he'd gotten his wish a moment later when he heard the creak again, and continued on with his assignment. He couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched and setting down his quill, he turned and saw that instead of leaving the room, the person had been standing there, staring at him.

"Can I help you?" he asked, trying to keep the exasperation from his tone.

Emma walked through the castle. She was bored and as usual her sister was nowhere to be found. She was used to spending most of her time alone, both at Hogwarts and at home. She was never the break out star at her house. Zoe and Ava always claimed the attention and though she always said that it didn’t bother her the opposite was true. It bothered her a great deal. However, she knew that her parents had enough to handle with her sisters and so she let herself be thrown into the background. She was the perpetual middle child, almost invisible to everyone in fact.

She climbed the stairs deciding that she would explore the castle today. Emma loved exploring; she was naturally a curious girl and often had to curb that curiosity to ensure that she didn’t get into trouble. She knew that her father would be disappointed and she wanted to set a good example for her brother. Today she didn’t care. She would do what she wanted and explore new places without worry. Today, Emma was going to be herself, whatever that meant.

She explored the dungeons, making sure to stay out of the Slytherin’s way. She was decent with magic but she hated attacking people, something she knew that they had no trouble with. After a close call, she decided that perhaps the dungeons weren’t the best place to explore. Instead, she would try the rest of the castle.

She had gone through every door in the first floor once before so she chose to start on the second floor. She peaked in empty rooms, looked through old storage spaces and discovered at least two secret passage ways before coming across the empty classroom.

She turned the door slowly, looking around suspiciously when it squeaked. At first glance there was nothing interesting about the empty classroom, as it appeared to be just that, empty. She was about to turn around when she noticed someone. Someone she had seen several times before. It was Dominic, a Ravenclaw. He was as handsome as ever, and so instead of turning and leaving. She stayed and watched him. She thought she was being quiet, but apparently not enough. The boy looked up at her and asked her a question.

She blushed almost instantly, letting her newly dyed blonde hair cover her face. “Sorry,” she mumbled embarrassed. Way to go idiot. He probably thinks you’re a complete weirdo now, she thought to herself. Emma wasn’t used to being sociable. Her family had left her with little skills in dealing with the opposite sex. In fact if it wasn’t for the fact that naturally she and Zoe would have the exact same color hair, she would think that she wasn’t related to her at all.

Zoe was strong and brave. She was tough and didn’t get scared by anyone. Emma was almost the opposite of that. Sure she was bubbly with her friends and she loved meeting new people but introductions were always awkward and uneasy. Especially, if she was alone.

“I’ll be going now,” she managed to squeak out before turning around and away from him.

Dominic instantly felt bad about snapping at this girl. She'd not meant to walk into the room and find him there. And he certainly had no right to be so upset with her. She'd not known that he was in the room in the first place.

"Wait," he said, standing and moving over to her. "You don't have to leave. There's more than enough room here for both of us. I didn't mean to be rude. I just need to get a good mark on this assignment for my Astronomy class."

Dominic took hold of her hand to keep her from leaving and gasped audibly when an electric shock went through his hand. It wasn't a static shock, but something different that made him look up in suprise, his eyes flying to hers. There he recieved another shock. Her eyes were the most beautiful he'd ever seen. And the most vivid color. He felt that if he looked into them long enough, he would fall into their depths and drown, but he didn't care.

It dawned on him a moment later that he was still staring at her and holding her hand. He looked down at their hands as he released hers. He fought the urge to shake his head in confusion. What was happening to him? She was incredibly beautiful, that much was more than obvious. But he'd not had anyone be interested in him. In fact, he thought that she'd smack him for even asking her out. But he just couldn't help it. He needed to speak to her.

"I'm Dominic," he said, trying to think of her name as she looked so familiar to him as well as stunningly gorgeous. "You're Emma, aren't you?" he continued when it finally came to him.
