| April sat at the surface of the black lake, the wind gently caressing her auburn curls. She was sitting by the waters edge just going over the past year's events in her head. So much had happened and most of it had happened right here by this lake. The boyfriend she intended to marry, she had met here...her near death experience had happened here, the night her father and her finally bonded...it had all happened here. This truly was a magical place for April...she just wished that Elliot was there to share it with her. She missed him so, and worst of all she did not know where he was. April had given up trying to know...every time she chased after Elliot she was forced to back away several feet. His friends coming into their world sort of made April feel excluded. Elliot told Lindz and Aria everything, but she knew nothing about the boy she was with. Sometimes April wasn't sure if Elliot knew her. They had fallen in love so instantly; she refused to believe that that had just happened by chance...but there were times that Lindz presented a good point...she didn't know the Valentines as well as she did...and with how Elliot was she was probably going to just have to accept that. It was just...April hated thinking that someone knew Elliot far better than she did. Of course she knew that there would be things that the other triplets knew about him that she didn't...but it didn't change the fact that she was still hurt by it. Gently pulling at several blades of grass she sniffled and tossed them into the crystal clear water. She sure did miss him on days like this though...she felt so alone...where had her knight in shining armor gone? April | |

| Elliot wasn’t in the best of moods. He had just finished scolding Lindsey for the way she treated April. As bad as that made him feel what she had said was worse. She was right, he never talked to April. He kept his life a secret in order to protect her, but every time a secret was revealed she was hurt. He wanted to come clean but Elliot had never been good with talking about himself. He walked through the castle steering away from the dungeons or any other place he might run into Lindsey, his brothers, or Aria. In fact, anyone really. Elliot didn’t know what he wanted but company wasn’t it.
His feet guided him outside, where he was less likely to run into anybody. He didn’t know what to do. He usually talked to Aria about these problems but she was off in her own world lately. His thoughts invariably drifted back to April. She was the most important thing in his life. Hell, if he really thought about it, she was his life. He loved her more than the world itself, and yet he did nothing but hurt her. He wasn’t a good boyfriend, half the time he wasn’t even a good person. How was he supposed to keep her forever if he couldn’t even talk to her.
Unbeknownst to him, however, his feet were leading him to the solution. He found himself nearing the Black Lake, the one place in Hogwarts that he treasured above everything else. It was here that he had met April, and here he was sure where he would make her his wife. His eyes scanned the area hoping to see it empty. What he saw instead was a much better surprise. A figure he was sure was April, was waiting in the distance. He picked up his pace stopping a few feet short of her.
“April,” he breathed, his voice filled with love, the same love that always seemed to fill him when she was around. She made his day brighter, his life brighter. He didn’t know what he would do without her and he wasn’t prepared to find out. Tonight, he promised himself, they would solve their problems. Come hell or high water he would find a way to tell her everything she wanted to know.

| April looked up when she heard a warm voice caress her ears. A small smile made its way across her lips and gently she reached up and took his hand. Elliot was always so handsome and polite, it was part of the reason she had fallen in love with him.
"Hello love," she said gently. "I have missed you."
April always missed Elliot and she felt that they never had enough time to be around one another. But she supposed that was part of the adventure. They could always find something new about one another that they did not know originally. Of course, sometimes that irritated April. She wanted to know her boyfriend better than his regular friends. And although he said that Lindz was just a sister to him, April felt that it was pretty pathetic that she knew nothing about him.
It was like he was a mystery that she would never find out. And with how Elliot was about his life she never would. And sometimes that was almost enough to drive April away completely. She loved Elliot with all of her heart, but how could she truly love someone that she did not know? Elliot knew everything about her. He knew all of her motions, facial expressions, when she was happy, sad, sick or hurt. And yet...April knew nothing about the boy in front of her.
She knew nothing about the Valentines...and yet two friends he had known since childhood knew everything? April could accept part of that...but she could not accept that her beloved expected her to not ask any questions, and then just nod like everything was fine when she received no answer.
"So," she sighed, feeling like they were just meeting for a first time. "How are you?"
April didn't know what else to say. She was afraid that if she asked about his day he would go ninja on her and not say a word, but she was also scared that if she didn't ask about his day he would find her uncaring. Which wasn't true in the slightest. April cared for Elliot more than she did for herself. The love she had for him was incomparable to anyone's in existence.
"Supper is soon," April continued, noticing that the sun was starting to sink over the horizon. "Are you going out with your brother's and Lindz tonight?"
It was that time of the week where Elliot would go off with his brother's and Lindz. He often invited April, but she did not like sitting in really fancy restaurants. April was nothing like her mother and father. They liked spending money on fine meals...April just never really saw the glamor in being rich. She would often buy expensive things; but it was never to really make her life more enjoyable...more or less just to piss off her old man. Yes, April was one of the most down to earth girls a person could come by.
"I think I'm going to hide in the library and study up on Dragon Pox again, dad says there's going to be an outbreak soon and that means I can help at the hospital if that happens."
Gently she held his hand in her own, just savoring what little time she would have with him before he was swept away from her. | |
